Synopsis:
“Fade to Black is the newest hit ghost hunting reality TV show. Led by husband and wife team Matt and Claire Kirklin, it delivers weekly hauntings investigated by a dedicated team of ghost hunting experts. Episode Thirteen takes them to every ghost hunter’s holy grail: the Paranormal Research Foundation. This brooding, derelict mansion holds secrets and clues about bizarre experiments that took place there in the 1970s. It’s also famously haunted, and the team hopes their scientific techniques and high tech gear will prove it. But as the house begins to reveal itself to them, proof of an afterlife might not be everything Matt dreamed of. A story told in broken pieces, in tapes, journals, and correspondence, this is the story of Episode Thirteen — and how everything went terribly, horribly wrong.”
Quick Review:
If you like spooky, ghost hunter, found footage-type movies, this book is for you!
Looking back, this book can be split into two sections:
The first half takes on the horror elements with creepy demons, human-like experiments, and scares around every corner of the mansion. It did have a few ‘what-the‘ moments and is not for the faint of heart, so please see trigger warnings if you skipped over them.
Following the film crew was exciting. The twists were a little meh when it came to how the plot played out, but overall, it didn’t hinder too much from the story.
The second half of the story is for the science-gurus, with more of an alien, catacomb-type vibe.
Which really took my brain for a spin! But honestly, it wasn’t that bad! It gave a more contemporary feel to the whole thing and isn’t something I’ve read in a book before.
If you are just looking for a different focal point for your spooky season, give this one a go!
